Cak Lempong

Cak Lempong is a tradisional instrument which Minang people used to call it, Talempong. It has been brought from Sumatera Barat since 14th century by Minang people who was staying in Negeri Sembilan. Now, Cak Lempong or Talempong has been played by most of the Negeri Sembilan people. The first "version" of Cak Lempong only play certain notes but now it has been modified into a modern Cak Lempong which the notes have been upgraded followed to the notes of keyboard or piano. So, the arrangement of the Cak Lempong is in two rows which is the first row is the addition of the notes to make the music has the low sounds and high sounds and for the second row, it has the Do Re Mi Fa So La Ti Do sounds, same as the basic notes of keyboard. Sounds great right? So, for me, if someone can play keyboard or piano, they can play this Cak Lempong. It's quite easy and very interesting. So here, I'll show you, the video, which I played Cak Lempong for the Cak Lempong competition in 2010.

This group name is Cak Lempong Sri Pendeta Gemilang from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Pendeta Za'ba. We got second place for this competition, even though it's sounds great but I felt frustrated because we've been the champion seven times straight every year. So, when it comes to my turn, I just get second place. But, I don't blame myself or anyone, whatever it's, I thank to God because He got in ranking. Really grateful actually. Back to this group, Sri Pendeta Gemilang has been performed in many functions such as wedding ceremony, award occasions, and so on. This group has been to Sabah, Indonesia and other countries for international show. So, if interested to know more about this Cak Lempong, you may ask me anything.
